MODULE 1B3; Activity 2

The attitudes and perception of teachers transfer readily to students.  Rarely do we find students who have the natural aptitude to a specific discipline.  This interest has to be instilled, honed,  refined, until the student is capable enough to work on his/her own.  If a teacher, the second/third role model in that student's life, shows no interest in a particular area, or limited interest, the students will do likewise.

And there are times when we wonder why students choose to do certain subjects - it is because the teacher is enthusiastic, shows interest, innovation, etc, therefore, students naturally will model this attitude and behaviour towards this subject, even if they persistently get low grades.  It is the students' perception that if the teacher 'likes it' then they too should 'like it'.

Bearing this in mind, teachers should like to find new ways to enhance their subject areas and the students too will gravitate towards this method of instruction.  Teachers, ICT offers you that extra in providing and maintain the interest of your students.  Do not let your negative perception of ICT cloud a child's future.
