MODULE 1: ACTIVITY 4 - BEHAVIOURISM

People learn in different ways, but the most impressionable way is that of mimicking. Small children 'act out' what they see. If as parents and teachers - especially at the critical stage - do not inculcate good values and encourage good behaviour, a set of citizens may be lost. We should also note that children do know how to conform when they deem it necessary. Hasn't it been noticed that a child behaves one way with the mother and another with the father? So too, teachers observe that the same student may behave as many as 5 different ways to 5 different teachers or situations. Why is that? People in general are conformists. They react and if the reaction is accepted, they continue, whether good or bad. This is where positive values, positive behaviours and positive re-inforcers go hand in hand.
