The flipped classroom approach puts the onus of the teaching/learning experience squarely at the feet of the students. They are now responsible for their time and effort in accessing and responding to the content shared.
Teachers/facilitators are responsible for content and the way in which it is delivered along with the classroom experience.
In every aspect, PREPARATION is the key. Students have to read and complete pre-assignments and teachers have to plan the lessons and create the material to be used,
In every aspect of learning, there are the obvious benefits and drawbacks and in this approach, there is no exception.

MODULE 8: Activity 10 - CELLULAR PHONES
Parents calling students during the work period, the playing of games, theft of the device and cheating are some of the most popular issues that affect the use of cellular phones in the classroom.
However, with proper mentoring and management on the part of facilitator/teacher, the cellular phone can become one of the most popular ICT tool being presently introduced into the classroom.
Students are able to record and share data; work at home or at school; perform research and calculations,
Cellular phones are the BOMB!!!

MODULE 8: Activity 8 - Managing e-safety
E-safety includes such topics as netiquette and encouraging persons to be responsible for their personal information on the internet.
There are ever present dangers of identity theft, physical danger, bullying are constant and the vulnerable among us need to adhere to certain safety precautions, e.g. not sharing real name and other pertinent personal information on the internet, not meeting persons who contact you on-line, etc.
As teachers/facilitators, it is our responsibility to inculcate these points of safety to those in our charge.

MODULE 8: Activity 7 - TABLETS
Futuristically speaking, tablets are the more popular of the ICT tools, save the cellular phones. This is so because of a government initiative that saw it fit to equip upper secondary school students with tablets.
The only drawback in this system is that students were given these devices before teachers were sensitized of this fact. It is now a fact that teachers now need to play catch up in terms of researching how these can be effective in their subject delivery. Remember, too, the myriad of apps need to be sorted and related to what is required.

Student learning/benefit is at the forefront when using this method to add that much needed connection to both teacher/facilitator and content. Individualism and individual learning styles are highlighted,
MODULE 8: Activity 5 - INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARDS
My personal interaction with an interactive whiteboard has left me wanting. However, so as not to be biased, I have seen both demonstrations and actual lessons where this ICT tool has made a marked difference in the delivery of the content at hand.
Facilitators/teachers need to be mindful that they do not create lessons which a centrally focused with limited interactions or manipulations on the part of the students.
